Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)
This post is best read with some background music:
I’m back with another song title for my blog post (with lots of Taylor Swift references) and another few-months-late recounting! We went to Hilton Head from May 1-3 and here’s a quick little recap.
After leaving Martha and Tom’s house in Florida (I cried), James and I headed to Hilton Head (see what I did there?). Since it’s right near Savannah, we decided to check it out (in hindsight, we backtracked a bit). Though, to be honest, it was never on our list of potential places to live (and still isn’t), just a fun place to vacay.
The island was absolutely beautiful (just like in your wildest dreams). Hilton Head is one of those places that I’ve heard about and felt like I needed to see at least once (and I think maybe once is enough for me). It was a lovely place, I’m just not a golfer (and I think you’d get more out of it if you were there to golf). I don’t have a boat (which would also make it more fun). And it was not exactly away from the crowds (popular place!).
We stayed at a cheap hotel (which was still pretty nice, just not by Hilton Head standards), went to two of the few places on the island that had lots of vegetarian food (Java Burrito Co and Healthy Habit if you’re interested), and walked along the (beautiful) beach. James enjoyed his first crab boil at the Crazy Crab (I showed him how to use the crab leg cracker). We climbed the lighthouse and did lots of staring at the sunset (worth $8 for the views).
The beginning of our blossoming relationship with local libraries also took place in Hilton Head (though we didn’t realize it at the time). It was a short stint (but it was just enough for me). And it will always be the place where I learned that my nephew, Bennett Laurence Butler, was born on May 3 (more crying).
I bet these memories will follow us around, Hilton Head ⚓️🦀
